IS PRESIDENT OBAMA ON OUR SIDE?
This monthly column’s purpose is to raise awareness of issues for people to think
about and then act. As it is my turn to write this column I wanted an issue that is
in the forefront of everyone’s mind. I also wanted an issue that was brief and to
the point as I am preparing for my 80th Birthday celebrations. One issue stood out
immediately as I drove down Portsmouth Avenue in Stratham. How do you like the $4.00
gasoline?
When President Obama took office gasoline was $1.83 per gallon and the previous
President and Congress had removed the ban on drilling offshore to decrease America’s
dependence on foreign oil. President Obama reinstated the ban, went on a visit to
Brazil to announce he was committing $500 million dollars of taxpayer money to help
Brazil drill for offshore oil and put in an Energy Secretary who has stated he wants
$8.00 a gallon gasoline.
The Chinese have signed an agreement with Cuba to drill in the Gulf of Mexico to
pump out the oil discovered by Americans but banned by President Obama. Whose
side is our President on?
$8 Trillion dollars in new deficit spending has weakened the U.S. dollar so
foreigners are asking for more dollars for each barrel of oil. President Obama
wants to keep spending money we don’t have. Oil traders don’t trust the U.S.
government to get our house in order so they too demand more dollars per barrel
of oil. That is why we see $4 gasoline at the pump.
President Obama has promised more “change” I guess we will be seeing $5, $6 and
$7 gasoline pretty soon. Can you afford it? Call or write your Senators and
Congressmen today and let them know what you think.
